Previews begin September 23 at the Shubert Theater before the official opening October 19.

According to the press notes:

In the smoky halls and underground clubs of the segregated 50’s, a young white DJ named Huey Calhoun fell in love with everything he shouldn’t: rock and roll and an electrifying black singer. Memphis is an original story about the cultural revolution that erupted when his vision met her voice, and the music changed forever.

I know all of you Actors Theatre readers remember J. Bernard Calloway. He had been working on this show for a while. I wonder if he’s still involved with the production. You did hear that he’s in The Taking Of Pelham 123, didn’t you? I gotta get out and see that movie.
